Representing a continuously growing portion of interior design's student population, Harmony Bishop is one of countless non-traditional students who chose to go back to school to receive a degree in something she is more passionate about. In response to the high recommendations professional interior designers gave this school, Harmony chose to attend Arapahoe Community College for her degree. Already having earned a previous degree, she was fully aware of how challenging and time consuming school itself can be. Harmony's strive and desire has been made even more pronounced since in addition to being a student, she is also juggling a 4-year old son, a full time job, and involvement with ASID. Balancing all these aspects of her life has been not only a challenge but also a rewarding experience.
One aspect of her life which she chooses to selflessly give her time to is ASID. After simply being a member her freshman year, Harmony realized the importance of networking and being a part of a professional organization for this field and took on the role of the Membership Chair. She is very passionate about this role and getting other students involved with ASID. She plans to stay involved even after graduation this Spring.
One of Harmony's immediate goals is to hopefully find an internship over summer. Upon graduation, a more major goal is to work at a commercial architectural or design firm. She also wants to become a LEED AP. Further down the road she can see herself possibly teaching at ACC.
The desire to become an interior designer was visible even as a child growing up here in Colorado for Harmony. As a young girl she created house floor plans out of Legos. As a teen she was always interested in redesigning her bedroom.
Free time is a rarity for Harmony and is usually spent doing homework. When she is not doing homework however, she loves to country two step, read, and spend time with friends.
